Construction of Field #11 at Striker Park

New Parking at Striker Park!

Message From Outgoing Richmond Strikers Chairman Ken Scott
Long gone are the Weeping Willow trees on Field 3 and long past are the days and early evenings I spent talking to friends and parents so long that my wife would accuse me of soliciting votes for public office.
Those days of recognizing the parents with their Striker players has passed me, however I always enjoy watching the youngsters having fun and appreciate the life skills they are learning.
In 1984, my wife signed up our six year old son to play soccer. A sport I knew very little about and one that I was not interested in spending every Saturday before he could play, picking up rocks from the playing area.
We played on Henrico school fields and on open areas large enough to mark a field in Innsbrook. We practiced on any plot of ground that a company, church or person would allow us the privilege.

Update as of June 6, 2007
About 55 Strikers – parents and children – attended June 5th’s Goochland County Board of Supervisors meeting to show their support of our club’s efforts to get approval to move forward with the process of seeking a Certificate of Use Permit (CUP) in order to build fields on a 38 acre portion of Markel Corporation’s property at West Creek in Goochland County.
Bill Axselle, the Striker’s attorney, spoke on our behalf. We were hoping the supervisors would vote in favor to give us the green light to move forward with the process. Unfortunately, the Board of Supervisors deferred their vote until their next meeting in July. While this is set back for us, we are still hopeful we will get an opportunity to work through Goochland County’s formal CUP process.
As new information regarding this project is available we will update the website. Thanks to all of you who attended the meeting! You made a big difference and we appreciate your support.
