About ADP
Training sessions are held for 1 ½ hours twice a week and will be held at the Longdale Facility located 10428 Greenfield Road, Glen Allen, VA 23059 All training sessions are conducted by licensed and professional soccer coaches. Players are expected to attend all training sessions and games.
While it is understood that some children play more than one sport, it is expected that at this level, soccer be considered the sport with the highest priority. Training is focused on preparing and molding each player to practice the sound training habits necessary for excelling at the competitive youth level. The ultimate goal is to have all players performing the introductory level skills in a game situation.
Games will be played on the weekend and will be coached by volunteer parents assigned by the ADP Director. While the objective of both the coaches and the players is to win the game when the team steps onto the field; the first and foremost objective is to implement the specific skills and techniques that have been practiced during the week, in the game.
During the season, the players will focus on the development of elementary skills dealing with striking the ball, receiving techniques and individual ball control techniques. In keeping with this approach, the group of players will be divided into teams and will compete against each other in the fall season in a 4v4 game format. There will be no goalkeepers utilized in the fall season. In the spring season, the group of players will be divided into teams to compete against each other as well as recreational teams in an age group one year older.
